Dialysis Transportation in Atlanta & Decatur
Heart2Heart Medical Transport arranges scheduled, non-emergency rides to and from dialysis for patients and families across Atlanta, Decatur and DeKalb County. You can book a single treatment or set up a repeating pickup pattern around your chair time, and dispatch confirms the days and vehicle before anything is scheduled.
Heart2Heart bills insurance for medically necessary dialysis transportation; coverage depends on the plan and is not guaranteed. Rides booked and paid for here are card at booking, and you will know the fare before the ride is scheduled.
Setting up recurring pickups and returns
Recurring transportation is built around your clinic schedule rather than a fixed template. Tell us the clinic, the treatment days you have been given and your chair time, and dispatch confirms which of those runs we have vehicles for.
- Share the clinic name and address, your treatment days and your chair time.
- Dispatch confirms availability for each requested day before a standing schedule is set.
- Return rides are coordinated with the clinic once your treatment finishes; the exact return time is confirmed with dispatch, not promised in advance.
- Schedule changes, added treatments and cancellations are handled by phone with dispatch.
Choosing wheelchair, stretcher or BLS ambulance
The right vehicle depends on how you move on treatment days, not on the diagnosis. If you are unsure, describe how you transfer at home and dispatch will help you pick.
- Wheelchair Van — for riders who stay seated in their own wheelchair, with assisted boarding and securement. Base rate $180 plus $9.6 per mile.
- Stretcher Van — for riders who cannot sit upright for the trip. Base rate $420 plus $13.2 per mile.
- BLS Ambulance — EMT-staffed basic life support transport when monitoring en route is required. Base rate $450 plus $15 per mile.
- A $100 minimum applies to any trip, and rides in the 7PM - 6AM window add a $75 after-hours fee.
- Wheelchair transport — For riders who stay seated in their own wheelchair.
- Stretcher transport — For riders who cannot sit upright for the trip.
- BLS ambulance transport — Non-emergency BLS ambulance for trips that need it.

What to have ready when you request a ride
Having these details on hand lets dispatch quote and confirm the ride in one call instead of several.
- Patient name, phone number and the pickup address, including apartment or unit.
- Dialysis clinic name, address and chair time, plus the treatment days you need.
- How the patient moves: walks with help, uses a wheelchair, or must stay lying down.
- Stairs at the pickup or drop-off, and whether anyone will be riding along.
- Any equipment travelling with the patient, such as oxygen or a walker.
How payment works before you book

Riding on a regular schedule? Consider a membership
Riders attending dialysis on a fixed weekly schedule often take the same two one-way legs several times a week. Each plan sets the vehicle, the number of one-way rides included each month, and the miles included on each leg. Extra miles, waiting beyond the included grace period, and rides past the monthly allowance are billed separately. A one-time $99 activation fee applies when you enroll. Memberships are private pay; they are not insurance and do not reserve a vehicle for a specific pickup time.
